Plastic welding is a skill that many people struggle to get right. Poor welding due to inferior equipment, lack of experience and incorrect compatibility of rod materials and welding temperatures can result in weld failure. This can be time consuming and very costly if the weld fails after the panel or bumper has been re-sprayed and re-fitted.
There are products on the market that use the word ‘weld’ on the packaging and are promoted for repairs of plastic and other materials. These are nothing more than adhesives. There are also glue guns which just melt glue onto the surface of the item to be repaired. We do not use these.
We only use genuine solid plastic welding rods (of the same type of plastic as the original part) which we use to repair the broken plastic part, by melting (fusing) together the plastic welding rod and the plastic part as a proper plastic weld. This is the only way to get the strength of repair that is required for motoring parts which are subject to wind pressure and vibration.
We are specialists in plastic welding repairs to plastic motorcycle, car or van parts, using our professional equipment and materials. We carry out plastic welding repairs for customers throughout the UK.
If you have a motorcycle with a damaged plastic body panel and a new replacement panel is not available or too expensive, we can make a plastic weld repair.
If you have a car or van with a damaged plastic bumper or body panel and a new replacement part is not available or too expensive, we can make a plastic weld repair.
If you are a Breaker, we make plastic weld repairs to plastic parts, so that you can add them to your parts stock (to sell ready for finishing and painting), which would have otherwise been scrap.
We can repair plastic parts made from ABS, ABS/PC, PP/EPDM, PBT/PC, PA, PP and other plastics and composites. See Plastic Identification Codes list below.
Our normal turn around time is 4 to 5 working days including collection & delivery, although many panels or bumpers are repaired and returned to customers within 2 working days. We always attempt to make same day repairs.
